When the original Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire perfume was released in 2012 I was working in a perfume shop at the time. I was so impressed not just with the branding and beautiful bottle, but with the incredibly long lasting cherry scent; I thought it would be a huge hit. I’ve found that since its release its not a perfume I often see advertised or in department stores. I don’t really hear people talk about it either. As a result it can often be found heavily discounted, which in my view makes it one of the best value for money perfumes ever. If you like Cherry or Almond perfume notes then I cannot recommend Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire enough. This is a deep, dark, sexy Cherry with warm Tonka Bean, Vanilla and Almond notes which make the scent last and last.
The Cherry reminds me of a cherry liquor; it isn’t a fresh Cherry Blossom or a summer fruit scent.
For me, La Petite Robe Noire performs like an intense perfume, not just an Eau de Parfum.
I think fans of perfumes like Dior’s Hypnotic Poison or Lancôme La Nuit Tresor should definitely check out La Petite Robe Noire!
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau De Toilette
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau De Toilette is a lighter version of the original; but it’s still pretty strong!
The sour Cherry notes are combined with Orange Blossom, Jasmine and a hint of Green Apple and Blackcurrant. However, the Patchouli in the base makes sure that this still has lasting power which for me is like that of an Eau de Parfum, not an Eau de Toilette.
The Cherry in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau De Toilette is sweeter and fresher than in the Eau de Parfum; so I recommend this version if you’re looking for a sweet cherry perfume.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Intense (2022)
In 2022 Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Intense was re-released in a new bottle, which is slightly darker than the original. The fragrance includes the Blueberry of the previous Intense version but I find it much less sharper and more floral. The Rose heart note and Patchouli base are the main notes for me, alongside a Blueberry Cotton Candy undertone.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Intense (2016)
The blue branding of Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Intense represent the strong and unusual Blueberry perfume note which is the star of the show for this fragrance. The other star is a sweet Cotton Candy. These notes replace the Cherry and Almond of the original; which makes the scent less deep and warm and more fun and fruity sweet.
Any fans of Blueberry must try this! It’s an Eau de Parfum Intense which means it as good lasting power. I also love the Marilyn Monroe style dress on the bottle.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Couture
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Couture doesn’t have the Cherry or Almond notes of the original. Instead a sweet Raspberry dominates the top notes, which fades into a Patchouli and Mossy base. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Mossy perfumes, and I find that these base notes take away from the Raspberry. Couture doesn’t have the uniqueness of the original and I’d only recommend it for fans of Mossy green perfumes.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche has the Cherry and Almond DNA of the original but the main notes end up being similar to fresh green grass. This light Eau de Toilette has a citrus opening, followed by Cherry and lots of other fruity notes. There is then a Pistachio in the base notes which takes away from the deep Almond.
Eau Fraiche is a fruity green take on the original La Petite Robe Noire scent; ideal for summer when the original would be just too intense.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto
I love Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto it feels like an even more grown-up and mysterious version of the original.
The signature Cherry and Almond DNA are the main notes but they’re combined with a Leather perfume note which adds a ‘biker-sheek’ feel to the perfume.
I think Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto is discontinued but its still available here.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto Florale
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto Florale is the slightly lighter partner of Black Perfecto. Although its an Eau de Toilette it still has good lasting power. The Cherry isn’t in Black Perfecto Florale, instead its all about a feminine Rose combined with a leather base.
This is a nice modern rose which is a welcome addition to the range.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Légère
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Légère (also known as La Petite Robe Noire Hippie-Chic) is very similar to the original fragrance. Légère translates from French to ‘lightweight’ in English; and this indicates the lighter feel the perfume has compared to the original.
The scent itself though is pretty much identical the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau de Parfum.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Plissée
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Plissée translates to Little Pleated Black Dress. Like Légère, Plissée is very similar to the original La Petite Robe Noire.
There is a Peachy, Apricot note added to the mix, but after that it’s the same Cherry, Almond, Patchouli as the original fragrance.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Velours
Again, Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Velours is similar to the original perfume. Here, a Violet perfume note has been added; this takes over a bit from the Cherry note and mixes with the Almond and Tonka Bean to create a slightly powdery, sweet and warm undertone.
