Alien Eau de Parfum

Yes the rumour are true, Alien is a super strong fragrance. The wearer is immediately hit by a deep and heady jasmine note – like walking into a field of jasmine at midnight on a hot summer evening. There are no light top notes – something very unusual in a designer fragrance.

After the jasmine a creamy almost sweet woody note comes through. This combined perfectly with the jasmine to give Alien a ‘other-worldly’ feel.

Alien Eau De Toilette

Usually the Eau De Toilette which comes our after the Eau De Parfum can be overlooked.

But like with many Mugler fragrances, Alien Eau De Toilette performs like other designer brand’s Eau De Parfum.

I personally prefer Alien Eau De Toilette to Alien Eau De Parfum because they have added in some other interesting notes.

It opens with a citrus top note with an emphasis on Mandarin Orange, then you get the Jasmine which is softened with the addition of some more delicate while floral notes.

Alien Fusion

There have been plenty of flankers of Alien over the years. Now most of the older ones are harder to get hold off but some of the more recent ones you can still find online.

Alien Fusion is my favourite flanker from the Alien perfume range. Released in 2019, it uses Orange Blossom and Tuberose rather than Jasmine to create a summery white floral aroma.

Orange blossom is one my favourite perfume notes – I just think it’s so classy and pretty, while still having a great projection and lasting power.

There is a hint of Ginger in Alien Fusion which keeps it more refreshing than the original, and also a hint of Vanilla with the Amber base which keeps it less heady than the full-on woody base in the original Alien.

Alien Fusion is discontinued but still available on Amazon and in Australia at City Perfume.

Alien Flora Futura

Before Alien Fusion, Mugler released Alien Flora Futura.

This is my favourite Alien perfume bottle with the transparent pink instead of the purple, and it’s my second favourite fragrance after Alien Fusion.

Similarly to Alien Fusion, Alien Floral Futura has more summery white floral notes in the heart rather than the original Jasmine.

Alien Floral Futura uses the unusual fragrance note Night Blooming Cereus which is actually the white flower from a cactus, sometimes also know as ‘princess of the night’.

In my view, Alien Flora Futura is probably the prettiest of the Alien perfume flankers, but I think some of the longevity is lost in the reformulation.

Alien Mirage

In 2020 Mugler released Alien Mirage. This release is unusual as the main note is a mineral note – literally the smell of a pebble or stone.

There is a salty undertone as well, which as the branding suggests, creates the feeling of a hot desert fragrance, like the feeling of sun on sand.

It’s unusual to see a mineral note in a fragrance – so definitely one for the collection if you like your unusual fragrances!

The lasting power is similar to the original Alien Eau de Toilette.

Alien Goddess

In 2021 we saw Alien Goddess launched. This fragrance is totally different to the original Alien Jasmine scent. Instead this is a warm vanilla with a clean salty undertone.

Any fans of vanilla should definitely check out Alien Goddess. The lasting power is excellent as is the projection, without it being overpowering.

The vanilla is complimented by pretty Jasmine, Cashmere and Heliotrope notes – all of which are strong and mix together well with the vanilla.

The vanilla Mugler has used in Alien Goddess is a Bourbon Vanilla (also used in the new Valentino Voce Viva Intensa) which isn’t as sweet as a traditional vanilla. Instead Bourbon Vanilla creates a warm slightly boozy vanilla note which is comforting and ideal for the winter months.

Alien Goddess Intense

Alien Goddess Intense is absolutely an intense version of the original scent. This is a very concentrated, very strong perfume. The Vanilla of the original Goddess is still the star of the show, however Amber undertones have been added alongside a more dominant coconut note. The Jasmine of the original Alien fragrance is also more noticeable. Essentially, every fragrance note has been intensified in Alien Goddess Intense.
