In the realm of high fashion, few names command the same level of reverence as Karl Lagerfeld. A visionary designer whose creative genius redefined the boundaries of style, Lagerfeld’s legacy continues to captivate the world long after his passing. Central to his legacy is the remarkable “Les Matières” collection, a testament to his unparalleled mastery of fabric and form. This collection stands as a celebration of materiality, an ode to the tactile and visual splendor that garments can evoke. In this guide, I explain what each fragrance in the very affordable Karl Lagerfeld Les Matieres Collection smells like and where you can get them.

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur de Mûrier

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur de Mûrier is a slightly sour redcurrant fragrance which has a really fruity opening that’s followed by a bouquet of delicate florals.

Mûrier actually translates to Mulberry and that tart berry note has been created with the redcurrant effectively.

I think this is a pretty easy going fragrance which is difficult to dislike; great for everyday wear.

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur de Pêcher

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur de Pêcher is a peach blossom fragrance that is very delicate and feminine. A pear opening note creates a fresh fruity feeling which is followed by the slightly fruity peach blossom note. Jasmine helps give body to the fragrance which has moderate longevity. This is a good alternative to Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet as it has similar qualities but is much more affordable!

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur d’Orchidée

In my view, Karl Lagerfeld Fleur d’Orchidée smells exactly like walking into a greenhouse filled with orchids. This makes it a very unique scent and note like anything I’ve smelt before.

The neroli and jasmine notes add to the green floral elegance of the scent which feels sophisticated and classy. I think this is my favourite Karl Lagerfeld perfume!

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur De Thé

Karl Lagerfeld Fleur De Thé is a light and delicate fragrance which feels very unisex. It opens with a fresh citrus top note followed by a calming camellia note which is very relaxing. This is one of the lighter Karl Lagerfeld fragrance, ideal for hot weather.

Karl Lagerfeld Bois D’Ambre

Karl Lagerfeld Bois D’Ambre does indeed have an amber base which is warm and cosy. I find that the clary sage really comes through as well which gives the fragrance a herbal aromatic quality. Bois D’Ambre feels quite unisex to me and is definitely one for fans of herbal scents.

Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Cèdre

Alongside a cedar wood note, Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Cèdre has a lot of other fragrance accords going on. A violet leaf and geranium add a slightly green floral feel to the heart of the fragrance. In addition the top note is a fresh citrus which makes it feel lighter than a typical cedar perfume.

Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver

Vetiver is a quite strong, woody and green note which is used primarily in male orientated fragrances. Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver is a very clean, professional scent which would work well for the office.

Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Yuzu

Yuzu is a type of citrus fruit and is one of the main notes in Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Yuzu. Mint, rosemary and green notes also add an aromatic touch which is calming and feels very natural. Bois de Yuzu is definitely unisex and has a medium performance; staying on the skin for a few hours.
