Lilac is a classic perfume note which has a sophisticated, ‘English Country Garden’ feel to it. Lilac originated in Europe and Asia but is now grown all over the world (it’s the State flower of New Hampshire). This article recommends the best Lilac perfumes available today.

Issey Miyake A Drop d’Issey

I think Issey Miyake A Drop d’Issey is one of the best examples of a Lilac perfume. The Lilac is strong and lasts well; perfect for Lilac lovers! Issey Miyake have used an Ambroxan base note in Issey Miyake A Drop d’Issey; this synthetic creation really helps a fragrance last and creates a cashmere, skin feel to a fragrance which combines well with an Almond Milk middle note.

Lilac is a relatively delicate scent so I really applaud Issey Miyake for creating such a long lasting Lilac fragrance.

AERIN Lilac Path

AERIN have some gorgeous fragrances, I’ve reviewed everyone one in my article on the range.

Lilac as the main note in a fragrance isn’t very common, so AERIN Lilac Path is definitely meeting a gap in the market.

This really does evoke the feeling of walking past a beautiful Lilac busy on an April day. The Lilac flower note is accompanied by Angelica, Honeysuckle and Galbanum which are very green notes. This addition helps make the scent feel more ‘realistic’ as of course when walking past a Lilac bush you are also getting the scent of the leaves and branches.

AERIN Lilac Path is romantic and delicate; ideal for a spring morning. The longevity is medium so it’s good to keep the travel spray with you for topping up!

In addition, the candle will fill your house with Lilac scent so even if you’re in a high-rise apartment in the city you can still get that outdoors spring vibe.

Gucci Guilty

Gucci Guilty is a warm Lilac scent which uses Amber and Patchouli to add depth to the Lilac heart note.

At first the feminine Lilac note is very noticeable and mixes with Citrus, Peach, Pink Pepper and Geranium to create a fresh green feeling. As the fragrance settles it becomes a deeper floral scent; I think it could be worn at any time of the year.

There are lots of versions of Gucci Guilty; check out my article on the entire range.

Tocca Giulietta

Tocca Giulietta is a clean, slightly powdery Lilac perfume. Its classic and reminds me of an English country garden.

I recommend Tocca Giulietta for the spring-time and during the day; it could work well as a perfume for work or professional occasions.
