Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau de Parfum

Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau de Parfum is an intense, sexy vanilla fragrance. For me, this is one of the ultimate ‘date night’ or Valentine’s Day perfume.

It’s a heady ambery Vanilla mixed with warm and softly sweet Peach and Plum notes. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve asked someone what they’re wearing and it turned out to be The One; the scent is amazing for lasting and projects well.

I find it very similar to Dior Hypnotic Poison (my article on the entire Poison perfume range) which is another super strong and heady fragrance.

Not for the faint hearted, the original Dolce & Gabbana The One is definitely the strongest in the entire fragrance range.

Dolce & Gabbana L’eau The One

Dolce & Gabbana L'eau The One
Dolce & Gabbana L’eau The One

Dolce & Gabbana L’eau The One was released a couple of years after the original. Its an Eau de Toilette and so provides a lighter, less heady take on the original signature The One scent.

L’eau The One has the same fragrance notes as The One but the Vanilla and Amber are less prominent.

Although discontinued, Dolce & Gabbana L’eau The One is still available here.

Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One

Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One was one of the best examples of a long-lasting rose fragrance, its such a shame that it has been discontinued.

Now, Rose and Litchi are often found in fragrances, but in 2009 it was much less common. The Litchi, alongside Grapefruit and Mandarin orange notes adds a freshness to the Rose. However, as the scent settles it becomes all about a warm slightly musky rose which lasts and lasts.

Rose The One is still available here.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Desire

Dolce & Gabbana The One Desire builds on the original The One formula and adds Caramel and Tuberose perfume notes.

Again, The One Desire has awesome lasting power and projection. It’s sweeter than the original and also very sexy. You can still buy The One Desire here, even though its discontinued.

Fans of Caramel scents should check out Prada Candy (my article on the Prada Candy Range) which is just as good for lasting as Dolce & Gabbana The One Desire.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Essence

Dolce & Gabbana The One Essence is a floral take on the signature The One scent. The Vanilla and Peach from the original are some of the main notes, but there are also fairly strong Lily and Jasmine notes which feature just as much.

As it dries down it becomes a powdery, ambery floral perfume.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Essence is still available here.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau de Toilette

Don’t be fooled by the Eau de Toilette in the name, this perfume is a strong as most other brand’s Eau de Parfum fragrances.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau de Toilette is a slightly softer scent that The One Eau de Parfum. The Lily, Ylang-ylang and Jasmine perfume notes are more noticeable than in the The One Eau de Parfum. However, the Vanilla and Peach sweetness remain and linger for many many hours on the skin.

Again, Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau de Toilette is discontinued, but still available here.

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One is noticeably different to The One because although it keeps the Vanilla note, and the Caramel note from The One Desire, it also has a strong coffee note.

The new Coffee note is also accompanied by a slightly musky Iris and a pretty Orange Blossom and Rose.

The Only One is sexy but feels a bit younger and less serious that the original The One fragrance. I think it would be more appropriate for during the day as well as in the evening.

Fans of coffee notes should check out YSL Black Opium (my article on the Black Opium perfume range).

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One 2

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One 2 is the fruitiest of all the Dolce & Gabbana The One range.

The first few seconds after its sprayed it filled with a berry delight made from Blackberries and Red Berries and a fresh pear.

This is then followed by a warm Coffee note that’s combined with Tonka Bean.

Finally, a soft Violet, Rose and Patchouli is left lingering on the skin.

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One 2 has now been discontinued but is still available here.

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One Intense

Dolce & Gabbana The Only One Intense is a pretty Orange Blossom and Jasmine scent.

The signature The One Vanilla is very much still here, but it’s accompanied by a lovely Coconut perfume note which is warm in the winter and tropical in the summer. Coconut is great for helping fragrances last and it largely responsible for the lasting power and ‘intensity’ of The Only One Intense.

After a few hours, the perfume becomes a soft Cashmere floral Coconut which is feminine, sexy and modern.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Gold

2022’s new release Dolce & Gabbana The One Gold is a really interesting combination of The One and The Only One.

The signature Vanilla note is there but not one of the main notes. Instead there is a classy Patchouli base which supports a super feminine Rose and Jasmine heart.

However, it’s the Plum perfume note which is the welcome addition to the fragrance. Plum is a lovely fruity and warm note which is classy but still fun.

Plum works really well with Patchouli to create a very modern and universally pleasant scent. I think it would be hard to dislike Dolce & Gabbana The One Gold.
