Since the release of the original Dolce fragrance in 2014 there have been seven different versions of Dolce. More recently the different Dolce releases have been quite different scents; this article explains what each Dolce perfume smells like and the difference between the range.

Dolce Eau de Parfum

The original Dolce fragrance is a strong white floral Eau de Parfum. Alongside a musky base there is a strong water lily perfume note, accompanies by papaya flower, narcissus, and amaryllis.

Although the water lily scent gives the perfume an aquatic feel it’s the white floral notes which dominate the scent making it very feminine and also great for lasting.

I think this original Dolce fragrance would be ideal for day time throughout the year and could certainly be worn in the office just as much as to a lunch date.

Dolce Floral Drops

Dolce Floral Drops Eau de Toilette was released the year after the original Dolce and is now discontinued. It’s a lighter take on the original with the same fragrance notes complimented with a hint of peach and a lot of green apple.

Dolce Floral Drops feels very fresh and aquatic and would be nice to wear during hot summer months.

It doesn’t last like the Dolce Eau de Parfum does; being an Eau de Toilette it is much less concentrated.

Dolce Rosa Excelsa Eau de Parfum

The third release in the Dolce perfume range is Dolce Rosa Excelsa which is now discontinued.

This cute frosted pink bottle with a red floral lid is accompanied by a beautiful advertising campaign all about roses.

This fragrance is absolutely one for rose fans; it takes the same notes as the original and adds in a lot of rose.

The signature Dolce scent of water lily and musk is still there but the sheer amount of rose scent included means that these notes are overshadowed by a warm musky rose.

Dolce Rosa Excelsa is an Eau de Parfum and has great lasting power; it’s one of the strongest mainstream designer rose perfumes available.

Dolce Garden Eau de Parfum

After a couple of years break a new Dolce was released which represented a shift to a different kind of scent for the Dolce perfume range.

Dolce Garden is one of the best coconut perfumes on the market. It’s a beautiful tropical coconut scent which is accompanied by a tropical frangipani note, neroli, warm almond and a fresh citrus note.

I always take Dolce Garden on vacation with me and it always makes me smile when I spray it.

If you like Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess or Guerlain Coconut Fizz you’ll love Dolce Garden, and of course, my Aphrodite perfume.

Dolce Peony Eau de Parfum

Dolce Peony released in 2019, is for me, the prettiest perfume in the Dolce perfume range.

Peony is indeed the main note (and one of my favourite fragrance notes!) and alongside a fresh pear which compliments peony perfectly, it creates a beautiful fresh floral scent.

There is also a pretty plum note, a hint of a rose, and a slightly sweet honey which works well with the fruits.

Although this is an Eau de Parfum I find that Dolce Peony performs like an Eau de Toilette; so I’d recommend this for day time and spring/summer.

If you like peony, I’d recommend also checking out Versace Bright Crystal, and Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet.

Dolce Shine Eau de Parfum

Dolce Shine comes in a beautiful yellow bottle which evokes summer and sunshine.

Although the marketing campaign emphasises the floral notes in Dolce Shine, I find that actually the mango, quince and grapefruit come across very strongly.

There are indeed floral notes which emerge after the first minute; tuberose and jasmine, along with a warm solar note make this a pretty fresh fruity floral scent, just like Dolce Peony, perfect for summertime.

Dolce Rose Eau de Toilette

2021 saw the release of Dolce Rose. Although this is a red bottle similar to Dolce Rose Excelsa, they don’t have much in common with.

I think the name Dolce Rose is slightly misleading, as although there is a fresh rose scent in here, the majority of the fragrance composition is a made up of fruity notes.

Redcurrent, green apple, mandarin and peach are the fruity notes which give Dolce Rose a super fresh and fun scent which I love for summer and humid weather.

Dolce Rose is an Eau de Toilette so don’t expect strong projection or lasting power. Although it’s a beautiful scent, Dolce Rose is probably the lightest fragrance in the Dolce perfume range.

Dolce Lily Eau de Toilette

I have to say I’ve not come across Lily and Passionfruit combined in a fragrance before. This unusual mix creates a tropical scent which makes Dolce Lily fun and summery.

Unfortunately, Dolce Lily is an Eau de Toilette so I find the lasting power isn’t great. It’s more of a carefree day time scent than something one could rely on in the evening.

I do love the hot pink bottle; it feels the most feminine and girly of the Dolce perfume range.

Dolce Violet Eau de Parfum

Dolce Violet Eau de Parfum is a combination of ‘purple’ scents. It opens with a fruity blackcurrant note before revealing a slightly powdery, floral violet heart. I think this is one of my favourites in the Dolce range, it also lasts better than a lot of the other newer releases.
